Good citizens
Got a call from Dee saying she'll be taking over the bicycle tonight. That's fine, I'm not working tonight. After beating the clock for getting a new pair of running shoes and a pair of shorts from RSH Northpoint, I managed to buy some essential toiletries for my 3 week in-camp reservist starting from today - and I've yet to sleep!
While waiting for Dee, I took a tour around the vicinity of my block twice just to get the feel how night rides were. I used to be crazy about it, during my studying days. I used to have hardcore wheel junkies, too bad things changed. We just don't have time to do it again. Soon after that I sat on the public sitting area at the corner of the void deck. Within the next 10 minutes I picked up the bicycle again, and went round and round the table.
At one point I realised a police division car stopped and parked at the lot opposite. As I make another turn I heard someonce called "Abang.."
As I ended the turn, expectedly, the two officers approached me. Obviously someone from the neighbourhood had dialled the number to check on me. Good citizens. I don't really mind. Infact, I intend to give my full cooperation.
I put down the bicycle, before one of them asked for my id I was already making a gesture for the officer two wait while I dig my back pocket for my wallet. The second officer was a little stunned as I make my way to the table by walking behind him. Good officers must possess tactical awareness.
I laid my wallet and card holder on the table as I gave my id to the second officer. From here the normal get-to-know conversation starts. He'd asked me how much the bicycle cost, chinning at it. $400, I replied. Then he'd continued on my residence. That's easy, I just live upstairs. He'd concluded about my status. I replied that I'm off today, and will be reporting for a 3 weeks reservist tomorrow..
"Oh, you from Juliet?", he asked. "Yes, I was. It's just that I got transferred to PKTC...", I replied.
Soon after that I got my id back, and they said thanks and wave goodbye. So much for minding my own business down my own residence. Two thumbs up for the citizen whom made the call, you're a gung-ho neighbourhood watch.
5 minutes later Dee came along with his guy friend whom will be her partner for the NTU triathlon this month. So good to see her. A little funny for the shortie to ride on the bicycle, I guess the seat needs a little adjustment.
In the meantime, wish me luck for the boot camp.
